HSC Assessment Mathematics General                             

Objectives

Students will develop:

HSC Outcomes

A student:

1. appreciation of the relevance of mathematics;

 

 

H1 appreciates the importance of mathematics in his/her own life and its usefulness in contributing to society.

2. the ability to apply mathematical skills and techniques to interpret practical situations;

 

3. skills, knowledge and understanding in algebraic modelling;

 

H2 integrates mathematical knowledge and skills from different content areas in exploring new situations;

H3 develops rules to represent patterns arising from numerical and other sources;

H4 analyses representations of data in order to make inferences, predictions and conclusions.

4. skills, knowledge and understanding in measurement;

 

H6 analyses 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional models to solve practical and mathematical problems;

H7 interprets the results of measurements and calculations and makes judgements about reasonableness.

5. skills, knowledge and understanding in financial mathematics;

 

H8 makes informed decisions about financial situations.
