Induction program for Year 7
The induction program plays a major role in welcoming Year 7 students to the school. Trained volunteer students act as mentors and introduce a supportive program of activities and information, beginning while the students are in Year 6 with orientation day. The induction program helps Year 7 to integrate more easily into the school, to build friendships with others in their year and with older students and contributes to Barrenjoey's friendly school culure.

During Year 7 special events are held to welcome Year 7 and their parents.

Barrenjoey's induction program for Year 7 has been recognised by the NSW Department of Education and Training as exemplary.
