Student representative
council (SRC)
The SRC is selected by merit. The main role of the SRC is to encourage students
to take part in school activities and to develop and maintain school spirit
and pride. As representatives, SRC students are encouraged to develop leadership
skills and are given training and opportunities which enable them to achieve
these aims. These leadership roles also extend to activities at district and
state level. As with any organisation, office bearers are allocated responsibilities
which include: fund raising for charities, special projects and initiatives
and organising cultural events.
Barrenjoey has more than 100 student representative councillors and is recognised throughout NSW as exemplary.
Student leadership and citizenship is a major focus at Barrenjoey. In addition to the SRC, Barrenjoey has elected senior leaders in Year 12. The senior leaders set goals for school improvement and play a major role in enhancing the calm, cooperative and learning focused school culture and the strong school spirit.
